Denver Film creates entertaining and transformative experiences for the Colorado community through the power of diverse voices in film.
"I see a problem and I suddenly become somebody who wants to solve it. I figure out what the steps are and then do it. And it usually works." ~ Ruth Wright
This 96-year-old environmental warrior has the bruises to show from the battles she fought, and the passion to carry her through the losses and the successes. Citizen Ruth is a compelling personal story of an extraordinary environmental activist, and a journey into some of her accomplishments in the face of various challenges, which compels the question, how did she do it? Uniquely, we follow the inside workings of a confident, self reflective, brilliant woman making her impact on a changing world over the last 60+ years. Her unique mix of passion, preparation, persistence, and personal relationships is essential. Relevant to current times where partisan politics keep adversaries from working together, the relationships Ruth built with adversaries shows it is not only possible, but often key to achieving difficult policy changes. Called the Mother of Greenbelts, responsible for the Boulder height limit, and persistent defender of open space, Allyn Feinberg says that Ruth made what Boulder is today. National Geographic interviewed Ruth for their issue on the Zone's of Happiness, and quoted her as saying "getting things done" is what makes her happy. At 96 she continues to fight the good fight for environmental land preservation, preserving water quality standards and defending the natural environment of flood plains. Ruth says no matter if you succeed or not, you never give up!
