In three parts spanning digital video and generation-degraded VHS DRIFT explores a personal narrative of humanity and the ocean as well as broader questions about the relationships and barriers between people and nature.

The Allegory of Jack and Jill is a satirical retelling of a familiar childhood rhyme, where two siblings climb a hill to fetch water for their mother. But what begins as a simple chore reveals a deeper crisis, one where water, a basic necessity, remains out of reach for many. Through their struggle, the film exposes a system where leaders turn a blind eye, failing to provide what should be a guaranteed right. In a world where people must still fetch and fall, it asks: How long must we climb, while those in power let the pail run dry? The water was meant to flow for all.

The Allegory of Jack and Jill

In a satirical retelling of a nursery rhyme, Jack and Jill’s simple trip for water unravels into an allegory of corruption and greed, exposing how even the most innocent needs can be tainted by a broken system.

Seascape is a mixed-media animated documentary and a showcase piece within a broader research project exploring how the sea can be mapped through memory, using experimental documentary methods and reflection on the Sea, a mass of water deceptively transparent, made mercurial by war, loss, and the weight of memory, its thick liquid channels pulling me back toward distance. Rooted in both research and biography, and suspended between escapism and escape, the film navigates and animates personal and collective narratives, interwoven by way of the sea. At the heart of the work are intimate conversations and thoughts, tracing trauma and history across generations as they flow and shift along with the current. The visual language of the film shifts between classical documentary imagery and moments where memory takes over the frame, infusing it with emotion and shifting its meaning through a range of visual techniques. The imagery is rooted in photographs from the shoreline where Shir grew up, interwoven with scenes from coastal towns across the UK.

Seascape

Seascape is a mixed-media animated documentary that explores how the sea can be mapped through memory. The film weaves together fragments of conversations between a daughter and her father, as they revisit shared memories of the sea. As their stories tied to borders, identity, movement, freedom, and trauma, the sea emerges as an "in-between territory," a space that blurs the line between escape and escapism.

Becoming" is a hybrid narrative-documentary that follows the film's creator as he reflects on his mundane life in search of something greater. From childhood wonder to academic pressure, it seems as though he is in a never-ending search for his creative awakening. Through voiceover, archival footage, and striking natural imagery, the film explores transformation not as a single moment, but as a continuous unfolding. As memories collide with the present, Becoming reveals a deeply personal yet universal story about change, resilience, and the lifelong process of understanding who we are.

A young artist tortured with a recurring nightmare obsesses over its meaning. His art fills with chaos, as he struggles to separate a real world from the dream. He decides to follow a mysterious girl to make sense of his visions and find out what is buried in the past.
