Birdie, a 13-year old, biracial girl who lives with her Jewish mom, spends a rare day with her father while preparing for her Bat Mitzvah. Their father/daughter relationship has been strained. Will she overcome her doubts about her dad and risk inviting him back into her life? Will Birdie find out what independence means as she steps into adulthood on her own terms?
