Out of the Dark: AKeem
Bullied at a young age, Akeem turned to poetry as his solace. After coming out to his mother, he was kicked out of his house with nowhere to go. Homeless at 14, Akeem grew very depressed and suicidal. He writes a suicide note, which he shares with a live audience throughout the film, but is taken to the hospital instead. At the hospital he meets a nurse named Renee who shows him love and gives him hope. Now, he shares an inspirational poem of the value of life.
