Girls for Future

At the crossroads of climate change and human destruction of our ecosystems, four girls, between the ages of 11 and 14, who are all directly affected by the consequences of climate change, fight for their future and the future of our planet. In Punjab, India, students like Gagandeep have no choice but to live and attend school amidst some of the world’s worst air pollution, while her farming community is swallowed into the vicious cycle of pesticide agriculture and debt. In Australia, student, and avid snorkeler Sabyah becomes an activist for the declining conditions of the Great Barrier Reef and the oceans, which are quickly dying due to rising temperatures. In Bangun, Indonesia, Aeshnina’s community lives and works as recyclers amongst piles of the world’s exported trash and are slowly being poisoned by the chemical runoff of plastics. In Pampi, Senegal, Fatoumata must set school aside as the water crisis worsens and threatens the survival of sub-Saharan communities like hers. In the face of overwhelming adversity and a society that often dismisses youth willing to take a stand, these four girls continue to persevere and make their voices heard. Be inspired by their stories of activism and perseverance. What can you do to fight climate change?
