At a remote lake house, a filmmaker plays a calculated game of desire and jealousy. Separated into two parts, this film explores themes of selfishness and the creative process that blurs the boundaries between autobiography and invention.

Starring Christopher Abbott (POSSESSOR), Sarah Gadon (CIFF 2018's THE GREAT DARKENED DAYS), and Aubrey Plaza, the film serves as a look at the ways artists may have hurt those around them in pursuit of their own selfish desires.

With a script that delivers an unexpected light-heartedness and playfulness, BLACK BEAR suggests that even in life's most challenging moments there is wit and joyfulness. The film serves as a reminder that the power to creatively reconstruct the ailing world is within us if we are brave enough to stare down the bear at the door.
