STRAY captures the day to day life of three stray dogs in Istanbul, where laws prevent the euthanization and captivity for free-roaming canines.

As they search for food and shelter, Zeytin, Nazar and Kartal embark on inconspicuous journeys through Turkish society that allow us an unvarnished portrait of human life — and their own canine culture. Zeytin, fiercely independent, embarks on solitary adventures through the city at night; Nazar, nurturing and protective, easily befriends the humans around her; while Kartal, a shy puppy living on the outskirts of a construction site, finds refuge with the security guards who care for her.

What KEDI did for cat lovers around the world in 2017, Elizabeth Lo's debut feature documentary, STRAY does for canine companions in 2020. Thanks to skillful camera work and the use of GoPro and other small camera technology, STRAY is an adventurous, playful and moving portrait of four-legged freedom-lovers who navigate their world with a shocking amount of confidence and surprising amounts of joy.
