Bang a gong and get it on in this dramedy about a group of Liverpool friends who tumbled head-first into the 1970s music scene, only for a tragic accident to reverberate through the rest of their lives. Featuring music by glam rock pioneers T-Rex and directed by actor/writer Ian Puleston-Davies (“Dirty Filthy Love”). —M.G.

It’s Liverpool at the height of the 1970s glam rock movement, and a bus full of rowdy kids in glitter makeup and feather boas are on their way to see their favorite band, T. Rex. Granted the opportunity to meet their iconic hero, lead singer Marc Bolan, the children are ecstatic. But no one is quite as excited as Jimmy and his fierce younger sister, Penny. Although Jimmy is older, the small but mighty Penny serves as his protector against ruthless school bullies, who decide to ramp up their torture of Jimmy on this fateful night. What starts as a celebratory evening, ends in a tragic accident that would have many decades’ worth of consequences. Highlighting the uniquely unifying power of music, BOLAN’S SHOES is a feel good dramedy that explores truth, connection, and forgiveness. —G.S.
