Our new Director of Programming, Anna Kopecká, who joined us earlier this year from Prague International Film Festival, brings you a special evening with Czech New Wave director Pavel Juráček in this Czech Classics event. In 'Joseph Kilian', our hero Jan spontaneously takes advantage of a shop that hires out cats to lonely people. However, when he tries to return the cat the next day, the shop has vanished completely. The elusive Josef Kilián, the man who can apparently resolve Jan's issues, appears to be permanently beyond reach. This was Pavel Juráček's first film and was made in the best tradition of Franz Kafka and Czech surrealists.
