For years, Marina, a maternity nurse, and her husband Gosha, a railway dispatcher, have been putting aside money for a dream trip to St. Petersburg to experience the white nights. Their savings come from small bribes that have quietly become part of their everyday lives. But when the war in Ukraine begins and the travel agency disappears with their money, their carefully planned holiday turns into a nightmare. What starts as the loss of a dream gradually exposes the cracks in their marriage, forcing them to confront their choices, their disappointments, and the little lies that have shaped their lives.
Award-winning directing duo Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov’s new film explores how, in a society where corruption becomes commonplace, moral boundaries can slowly disappear. Through Marina and Gosha, the film observes this erosion from within – not as a political protest, but as a tragicomic portrait of two ordinary people trying to hold on to love, dignity and hope.
The film premiered in the Crystal Globe Competition at the 2026 Karlovy Vary IFF this summer.
