Five Ukrainian soldiers, four of whom are amputees, have survived severe injuries and carry the physical and psychological scars. Now they take on a new challenge: climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. Among them is Olha, a severely wounded former sniper and mountain guide, whose determination matches that of her fellow climbers as they push their bodies and minds to the limit. The ascent becomes more than a test of endurance. As they struggle with pain, prosthetics, fear and memories of the battlefield, the five discover new strength in one another and begin to rethink what life after war can mean.

Shot between Ukraine and the slopes of Kilimanjaro, Masha Kondakova’s powerful documentary replaces pity with admiration, offering an intimate portrait of resilience, camaraderie and the difficult process of turning trauma into a new beginning.

Winner of the Best Documentary Award at the Riviera IFF 2026.
