Can closeness be learnt? And can love become a space where it is safe to reveal one’s own vulnerability? Maria and Patryk, two young artists from different backgrounds, embark on their first serious relationship. They soon discover that intimacy requires confronting what has hitherto remained unspoken. Maria is working on an unusual art project in which she pays people for their tears. Patryk, on the other hand, is unable to cry. Art, games and experiments become a way for them to confront their emotions, fears and the patterns of intimacy inherited from childhood. Their intense relationship reveals class differences, a longing for security and freedom, as well as the question of what love means today. Drawing inspiration from contemporary art and the real-life stories of artists, Łukasz Ronduda creates a tender and empathetic portrait of a generation that speaks boldly about emotions but still fears true intimacy. His film becomes a coming-of-age story about new masculinity and a generation trying to create its own language of emotions. The film had its world premiere at the IFF Rotterdam 2026 and was later selected for the Odesa IFF.
