This participatory documentary explores the impact of the “Toronto Man Accent”. It features three Toronto locals of Afro-Caribbean backgrounds who define the origin of the dialect as well as provide personal stories to further understand the weight of vocal blackface and what that represents for them and others like them. Through open discussion, I Want My Voice Black explores the appreciation of language and the resilience of the Toronto Man.
