Memoirs to Little Jamaica is a short documentary film that shares the intimate feelings of a Jamaican-Canadian who feels culturally displaced. The film is portrayed through the narrator's perspective, Chelsea Nyomi, as she narrates her journey through a quest for belonging. Chelsea is a 2nd-generation Jamaican-Canadian living in downtown Toronto. This piece draws a sentimental connection between the Little Jamaica community in Toronto and the island of Jamaica. Motivated by the recent sickness of her paternal grandmother, Chelsea made a 19-day trip to Jamaica in May 2022 and spent time with her Uncle, cousins, and grandma - who contracted COVID earlier that year in February and was slowly recovering.
