A farmer (Mourikis) lives and works alone in a farmhouse in the heart of a mountain forest in Northern Greece. For years now, he has been fighting with an expanding industrial monster digging up the forest, disturbing the lush flora and threatening his property. Yet, the greatest threat comes with the sudden arrival of his son (Pandazaras), after a twenty-year separation. They turn into enemies under one roof and confront each other head on, with nature as their only observer. To prevent the muddy ground from being pulled out from under their feet to profit, father and son must dig deep into it.

Nikitas vit depuis toujours en paria sur sa ferme en pleine forêt, luttant contre les compagnies minières qui rongent les environs et le menacent avec acharnement. Après une importante coulée de boue causée par de fortes pluies et le défrichement, une épreuve de plus l’attend: le retour de son fils après une absence de 20 ans. Ce dernier vient lui réclamer sa part du terrain. Pris en étau dans cette atmosphère oppressante et devenus des ennemis briguant les mêmes terres, les deux hommes s’affronteront sans merci. En dernier ressort, la nature restera le seul juge. Digger, le premier long métrage de Georgis Grigorakis en tant que réalisateur, a mérité le Prix du jury lors de la Berlinale Panorama en février dernier.
