THE CASE OF THE MISSING A.Y. JACKSON
Under the cloak of night on August 9, 1974, , with Sudbury Secondary School alarms ringing on deaf ears, two original A.Y. Jackson paintings were whisked away, never to be seen again. Someone knows something.
The stolen paintings, Sheridan Technical School's Spring on the Onaping River (1955), and Sudbury High School's A Windy Day, Lake Superior (1959) went missing in 1974 just as the newly amalgamated Sudbury Secondary was about to open. Was it a rumoured local collector? School renovation contract workers? Seasoned art thieves from outside the area? But wait, there's one more theory.
The Case of the Missing A.Y. Jackson, a radio play staged for broadcast by fifteen Sudburians, not only presents the facts, but seduces armchair detectives to help find the missing paintings.
Someone knows something. Help solve the crime.
CRIME STOPPERS is waiting. If you have information about the theft of these paintings, place a 100% anonymous tip by calling the Crime Stoppers’ Tipline locally at 705-222-tips (8477), toll-free at 1-800-222-tips (8477), or going online at www.sudburycrimestoppers.com.
