Comment about work in the show: “Pieces of Me is my fourth self-portrait. It symbolizes the societal pressures of being an African-American woman. From a young age, you are taught how to see, think, and speak in order to fit in. As I get older, I am learning to release those things and to bring all of me to the table.”
