We recently completed the 2021 Columbia Film Festival season that started off with a LIVE Gala Outdoor Opening Night with a special screening of the film Uprooted. We then presented over 60 films in a variety of categories including Comedy, Drama, Documentary, Musical and more. Films were both Feature Length and Shorts, representing up and coming filmmakers as well as established producers with great productions.

Each year all of the films go through a very detailed judging process by a panel of both industry professionals and some folks who just love movies. Every film is rated by various elements that include Direction, Cinematography, Performances, etc. These individual scores and comments are what help determine which films, out of more than 150 submitted, will become part of our Festival. These same scores are then used to determine our Winners.

Further, for our Audience Choice Award we send out an invitation to everyone who watched a film to cast a vote via SurveyMonkey. These scores are tabulated and the winner is determined by both highest rating and number of votes.

Please enjoy our Virtual Award Ceremony, which also includes trailers and/or excerpts from the various winning films. As far as we are concerned at Columbia Film Festival, every single film and every filmmaker is a WINNER! These selected films represent the highest ratings and CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!

Please enjoy the various media content on our Columbia Arts Channel from our honored community partners, and check back soon for some selected films from our 2021 Season which will be added to our Columbia Film Festival retrospective once interested filmmakers give us a green light.

The Columbia Film Festival is made possible by the generous support of all our Sponsors and Donors, and this Award Ceremony and the Awards are made possible with additional support from the Maryland Film Office!
