Breathing Black follows nine Black Baltimoreans as they find joy amidst the global COVID-19 Pandemic and a summer of reckoning with the continued genocide of the Black body.

Director Statement

Breathing Black is my directorial debut, but more accurately this film is my offering. In this moment, this project is my best offering to Black folks. Over the past thirteen months, I sat down with Black Baltimoreans and asked them how they nurture joy during a global pandemic. This film was conceived at a time when I couldn't answer that question for myself. This journey has helped me find my answer and along the way I've gotten to capture the Black joy that is already breathing and thriving in one of the greatest cities in America. I look forward to showcasing a different side of Baltimore that features more than violence and drugs.
