With a precarious fate approaching, Danny, an autistic teenager, and his older brother David perform a familiar childhood ritual to lighten the gravity of their plight. As time runs out, however, the brothers must leave their childhood behind to confront family demons, challenge futile beliefs, and transcend communication barriers to find solace amidst their crumbling world.

Director Biography - Craig Mooneyham, Jacob Reynolds

Craig Mooneyham is a filmmaker from Conroe, Texas who Clark-Kents as a Project Manager to pay the mortgage until his filmmaking superpowers come to fruition. Craig has written/co-written, directed/co-directed, and produced six short films and plans to take on a feature as his next project.

Jacob Reynolds's entry into film was as a child actor. His resume includes such films as Harmony Korine's cult classic, Gummo, Alan Parker's The Road to Wellville, and Sam Raimi's For the Love of the Game. Jacob's behind-the-camera ventures include screenwriting for an award-winning producer, and producing and directing short films.

Director Statement

Salting the Fly was inspired by the concepts of unconditional love, the sacrificial savior motif, and the transcendental power of allegory. The latter concept was inspired by a documentary about a boy on the autism spectrum who used metaphor to communicate deep, emotional experiences, which his parents and doctors thought he was incapable of communicating, much less understanding.
