Panelists:

Dr. Brian E. Rowland serves as Mayor of the City of Prairie View, Texas. An active member of Local Progress, Dr. Rowland also serves as Co-Chair of LP’s Black Caucus.

Dr. Rowland holds a PhD in Educational Leadership and is the Managing Principal for Visionary Leadership, LLC.He has a regional, state and national reputation for outstanding leadership and community involvement. Rowland was an instrumental force in the successful restoration of the Prairie View A&M students’ right to vote, a nationally recognized court case. He has received several awards including the Young Champions of Justice Award from the Lawyers’ Committee on Civil Rights and the YMCA of Greater Houston Minority Achievers Award.  

Randall Dottin is a writer/director who works both in documentary and narrative fiction. His MFA thesis film, "A-Alike," was licensed for a two-year broadcast run by HBO and has won numerous awards, including the Student Academy Award for Best Narrative Film. In 2009, Randall was named by IndieWire Magazine as one of the Top Ten New Voices in Black cinema. From 2012 to 2015, Randall wrote and directed branded content for aol.com, Toyota, and Essence Magazine. Randall’s short film "Lifted," was sponsored by Fox Searchlight’s program for emerging directors, the Fox Searchlab. "Lifted" premiered on CBS in 2015. His docu-series "The House I Never Knew" is currently in production and explores how six families in Chicago, Houston, and Boston fight against becoming casualties of housing segregation policy. The series recently received a grant from the Sundance Institute Documentary Fund. He is currently chair of the Screenwriting Department at New York Film Academy.

Angela Tucker is an Emmy-nominated producer, writer, and director who co-founded TuckerGurl, a production company which tells compelling and irreverent stories about underrepresented communities. Her directorial work includes "Paper Chase," a teen comedy in pre-production; "All Styles," a dance movie in post-production starring Fik-Shun and Heather Morris; and "Black Folk Don't," a documentary web series in its fourth season. She’s in her sixth year as series producer of "Afropop," and co-produced "The New Black." Previously, she was director of production at Big Mouth Films, a social-issue documentary production company. Angela was a Sundance Institute Women Filmmakers Initiative fellow.
