Arrogance of Power

Arrogance of Power is a documentary by the activist film collective AsiaVisions, showing the fascist might of former president Ferdinand Marcos. The film reveals how military aggression and human rights violations were institutionalised during his rule and undermines dictatorial claims that there were no political detainees under martial law. Made originally in Super-8 film, the documentary has been migrated to U-matic tape and digitised for access. Now under the custodianship of the IBON Foundation (a non-profit organisation conducting social, economic, and policy research in the Philippines), the AsiaVisions video collection is the first beneficiary of Community Archiving Workshop, initiated in April 2017 for the Southeast Asia-Pacific Audiovisual Archive Association’s conference in Manila.
