Middle Eight (A Song)

In music composition, a middle eight is a section, usually after the second chorus, introducing a markedly different arrangement and lyrics that add variety to a song. It is commonly referred to as the middle eight because the section usually lasts for eight bars.  

Middle Eight (A Song) is a music video sequence with eight scenes. Each scene features a sustained chord stretched to a one-minute duration—a tableau interjected with text that points to a narrative. The video travels up the musical scale, starting with Do, Re, Mi, and so on. The eighth scene, however, signifies the completion of the octave with a higher Do, a point zero that simultaneously propels like a bridge or a middle eight.
