Collective Experiences 2.0

Collective Experiences 2.0 is a video recording of a software capturing data from a social media feed. The software explores the multilayered experience of producing and consuming images and information on a digital shared space. As one spends time scrolling through social media, the constant movement and rapid refreshing prevent us from deciphering each image individually. Instead, the images become part of a fragmented tapestry. In the recording, the feed starts off with one image that continues to multiply as the software programme runs. The algorithm then takes pieces of each image and stitches the fragments together, essentially creating a new image for each frame. Over time, the images distort and dissolve until the pieces start disappearing one by one, leaving remnants of moving pixels that eventually turn into noise.
