Accelerator

In Accelarator, Ramon Afable depicts the feeling of rapid motion in a lucid visual language of light leaks, motion blurs, and data moshing, compounded by bombastic and symbolically contentious images. To illustrate the latter, the artist appropriates Americana as an example of both cultural power and doomed failure. Melancholic solitude underlies this need for speed as a cowboy figure appears alone in his ritualistic task, his largely barren world spiralling into a state of incessant fracturing. Contrary to the long-held notion of abstraction symbolising withdrawal and concealment, Afable creates a bold apocalyptic vision—one that reveals new possibilities rather than signalling the end.
