In Crossings, a group of international women peacemakers sets out on a risky journey across the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea, calling for an end to a 70-year war that has divided the Korean peninsula and its people. Comprised of Nobel Peace Laureates and renowned activists like Gloria Steinem and Christine Ahn, the intrepid team faces daunting logistical and political challenges as they forge a path with their Korean sisters toward peace and reconciliation.

Korea was divided twelve years before I was born. My generation and those after me have never known a united Korea. But the possibility of reunification is as fascinating as it is seemingly intractable. Investigating Korea’s partition is not unlike investigating my own internal bifurcation as a Korean and as an American. Born in Korea and adopted and raised by American parents in the United States, my life has also been dictated by the Korean War and decisions that were made taking me far from the land of my birth. The practice of international adoption is a legacy of the Korean War and I continue to explore the history and impact of that war. I am an active member in community organizations with long standing commitments to better understanding and resolving tensions in Korea and have incorporated that experience in my filmmaking
