VERA, a 33-year-old Filipino-American born and raised in New York, deals with her estranged father PABLO, who has dementia. She hires JHASON, a Filipino nurse who is new in the city, but soon realizes that Jhason is not just who he says he is and that her father has a secret that he has been trying all his life to keep, and now, finally, to forget. It is a secret that haunts Pablo, that drives Jhason to seek revenge – a secret that makes Vera question everything she thinks she knows about herself.

Director - Ida Anita Del Mundo

Never Forget explores the themes of history and memory and how these affect the understanding of who we are.

I am from Iowa originally, but I have been based in the Philippines since I was young and my body of work in film so far is about culture and heritage. My first film, K’na the Dreamweaver, is about the indigenous people in the southern region of the Philippines. The two documentaries I have directed are also about Philippine culture – An Orchestra in Search of a Home is about the history of the Manila Symphony Orchestra while Brocka X Bernal is about two of the most well-known directors in Philippine cinema history.

Never Forget, is my first time directing a film in New York. On this production, I am excited to have worked with talented BIPOC, Filipino American, and Filipino actors and filmmakers.

Now more than ever, representation matters and having a female, Asian American, and Filipino voice telling significant stories of history, memory, and identity, is becoming more and more important.
