Synopsis:

The often forgotten story of the coalition and friendship between the Jewish and African-American communities during the Civil Rights Movement.

DJFF Film Reviews:

“An exceptional doc about the history of the relationship between Blacks and Jews. Strong connections fostered by Dr. King and civil right movement. This is simply a perfect doc at the perfect time. This is important for both communities to see to learn about (or remember) the common struggles. Great celebrity interviews, incredible story. Exceptional and timely. MUST SHOW! CONTRACT!”

~ Steve Wilson: Member, DJFF Film Selection Committee & Former Executive Artistic Director, JCC Mizel Arts and Culture Center

“This is a film that is so very much needed at this troubled time… there’s so much wonderful archival material here as well as the interviews. It’s especially poignant for a younger generation that doesn’t know the story of cooperation between Jews and Blacks during the 50’s and 60’s. I was heartened to see the film take on the rift that occurred in Black-Jewish relations starting in the 70’s and the current attempts in some quarters to work toward our natural common goals. An important film, lovingly made.”

~ Mark Boscoe: Chair, DJFF Film Selection Committee

“With our turmoil and hard work for significant change for social justice right now in our country, this film is an inspiring story of unity, empathy and partnership, illustrating how freedom and equality for all can be achieved only when people come together.”

~ Susan Mathews: Member, DJFF Film Selection Committee
