Synopsis:
A man providing overnight watch to a deceased member of his former Orthodox Jewish community finds himself opposite a malevolent entity, in writer-director Keith Thomas' electrifying feature debut.
Content Disclaimer: Violence
DJFF Film Review:
"A well-crafted genre film with deeply Jewish roots. The film taking place in essentially one place over the course of one night makes the slowest camera pan seem sinister; an authentic production design combined with “antique” lighting and a moody, atmospheric sound design (with the loud cracks and pops of creaky bones and joints) lend a creepiness; questions of an unreliable narrator (being unsure of whether what mentally unstable Yakov is seeing is really happening) adds to the unease. Fabulous cameos from Menashe Lustig (of MENASHE from 2017 JAAMM Fest) and the late, great Lynn Cohen z”l. A fantastic debut from writer/director Keith Thomas, a filmmaker from our home state of Colorado!” ~ Amy Weiner Weiss: Member, DJFF Film Selection Committee & Director of Festivals, JCC Mizel Arts and Culture Center
