The New York philanthropist and art patron Agnes (“Aggie”) Gund was deeply moved by Ava DuVernay’s 2016 Oscar-nominated documentary “13th” on the mass incarceration of African-Americans. In 2017 Gund established the $100 million Art for Justice Fund to reform the American criminal justice system and end mass incarceration in the US. This film, directed by Aggie’s daughter, tells the story of a remarkable person and the power of art to inspire social change.
