In this portrait of a Syrian refugee family newly arrived in Montreal, director Pascal Sanchez creates an intimate and honest account of Adnan Al-Mahamid, his wife, Basmah Issa, and their four children as they begin to build new lives. The film focuses on their courage, humanity and love for one another as they adjust to life in a new world while coping with the guilt of being survivors and the concern for the people they left behind. As Sanchez has stated, the film can’t change the horrors that occurred in Syria, but it may open our eyes to those affected by it.
