In 1986 the Canadian musician Beverly Glenn-Copeland released on cassette Keyboard Fantasies a folk-electronica hybrid recording which went largely unnoticed at the time. After three decades, it is now recognized as a seminal work of electronic music. After spending most of his life in relative obscurity, the pioneering Black transgender artist is now touring globally and sharing his work with a new generation. Part biography and part tour documentary, the film explores Glenn-Copeland’s life growing up in Philadelphia, being the only black classical music student at McGill in the early 60’s, and living as a lesbian woman until realising he is transgender. Now in his mid 70’s, he is finally getting the recognition his music deserves and performing to sell-out venues around the world.
