For almost a century, the State of Tennessee sent “wayward colored boys” and later, white boys as well, to a “reform” school, Taft, in a remote area of Appalachia. An investigation exposes, in their own words, the torture, trauma, and lasting damage to those boys, now middle aged men, sent to Taft. Though Taft finally closed, we are challenged to question if things are really that much different today
