In this documentary, director Mina Keshavarz unveils a deep family secret involving the death of her grandmother, who was a victim of domestic violence. Keshavarz tells her grandmother’s story through a monologue addressed to her about the history of women’s activism in Iran, including a campaign called “Stop Domestic Violence Against Women”, begun in 2016. Such campaigns are forbidden in Iran, but nevertheless, feminist activists worked to pressure the government to pass a new law to protect women against violence.
