Introducing a new Film Impact Georgia virtual series called “Ask A Pro Anything”. This concept is Part TED Talk, part casual conversation designed to give people an inside look into our professional guest speakers’ process. We’ll start with exploring the ups and downs of their journey and then follow the conversation wherever it takes us.

Our Guest is Jennifer Phang

Jennifer Phang’s sophomore feature Advantageous won the U.S. Dramatic Competition Special Jury Prize at Sundance, was acquired by Netflix, and released to exuberant press and audiences. Advantageous was then nominated for a 2016 Film Independent Spirit Award.   Her award-winning feature film "Half-Life" premiered in 2008 at Sundance and Tokyo International, screened at SXSW, and was distributed by the Sundance Channel.

A Berkeley-born daughter of a Chinese-Malaysian father and Vietnamese mother, Phang graduated from the MFA directing program at the American Film Institute. An alumni of the Warner Bros Directors’ Workshop, Phang was also selected for the 2016 Fox Global Directors’ Lab and is a recipient of the inaugural San Francisco Film Society Women’s Filmmaker Fellowship and Grant.

Thanks to being personally mentored by Emmy-winning producer/director Michelle MacLaren (Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead) Phang has gone on to direct episodes of The Expanse, The Exorcist, The Boys, Stargirl, Quantico and Agents of Shield just to name a few.
