Collaboration is at the cornerstone of everything we do at First Cut. Since 2019 we have enjoyed a partnership with Cork International Film Festival who generously present an award and a specially curated screening of shorts selected from their programme at First Cut! every year. These films provide inspiration and new perspectives for our festival attendees. This year, we are delighted to announce that CIFF are also our digital partner in presenting our first online festival.

“Cork International Film Festival is delighted once again to partner with First Cut!, a film festival that champions young filmmakers. Student works are such an important part of the filmmaking ecology and every year we watch with interest to see what new voices and talents are emerging in Ireland. Our 2020 festival programme presented a significant number of student and first filmmaker works, and we offer a choice selection of those here in films that cover comedy and drama and include animation and documentary. We also include a film by a filmmaking duo who are a little further on in their career in the shape of Drifting, which captures a moment in youthful lives where a decision has to be made to either stay or spread the wings. I hope you enjoy the journey that that and all the other films in this programme take you on.” – Don O’Mahony, Senior Programmer, Cork International Film Festival
