About the Director

Kevin Kodama is a writer/director born and raised in the suburbs of San Francisco, Calif. They recently graduated summa cum laude from San Francisco State University earning a Bachelor of Arts in Cinema. They were accepted into the 2021-2022 Undergraduate Thesis program at SFSU and was also a recipient of the 2021-2022 Marcus Undergraduate Research Fellowship Award for their short film, “Shikata Ga Nai,” which recently won “Best Cinematography” at the 62nd Film Finals hosted by SF State and was runner-up in the Student Competition at the 2022 March on Washington Film Festival. They aim to write, direct, and produce original feature films which contemplate identity, reconciliation, and morality while challenging hegemonic narratives and exploring unique stories in history.
