Amache: An American Injustice is part of the 2025 FoR Showcase collection and will be available for a limited engagement, March 10-24, 2025.

Amache: An American Injustice tells the compelling and heartbreaking story of the racist imprisonment of Japanese Americans through the experiences of the people held at the Amache incarceration site. During its three years of operation, more than 10,000 innocent people were housed behind Amache’s barbed-wire fence. With a peak population of 7,500 incarcerees, Amache became the 10th-largest city in Colorado. For years, archeologists and survivors have been digging into the past here and discovering how the incarcerees built a life behind barbed wire and created a community amidst the desolation. Through interviews with survivors and their families, historians, and archeologists, Amache: An American Injustice explores the unconstitutional suspension of the civil rights of Japanese Americans, who — despite the extraordinary loss of homes, property, and freedom — survived their imprisonment with dignity and resilience.
