On the morning of 8 November, 2018, a devastating firestorm engulfed the picturesque city of Paradise, California. By the time the Camp Fire was extinguished, it had killed 85 people,

displaced 50,000 residents and destroyed 95% of local structures. It was the deadliest U.S. fire in 100 years, and the worst ever in California’s history. Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard pulls the viewer into the driver’s seat to experience the terror and the helplessness of devastated refugees from a town with the ironic name of Paradise.

Over the course of a year, survivors from Paradise cope with shared trauma, displacement, and uncertainty about the future. Yet slowly, with sheer grit and determination, they begin to rebuild their lives and redefine the meaning of home. Rebuilding Paradise is a testament to the power of the human spirit from one of cinema’s most gifted filmmakers.

“Howard’s insistence on focusing on the people of Paradise allows the film to stay deeply personal. Some of the worst that nature has to offer allows us to see just how decent, hardy, and inspiring people can be when pushed.” - Brandon Thomas, UK Film Review
