As For Us

In the coal-rich state of Jharkhand in India, local entrepreneur Shashi Kumar is transforming abandoned coal mines into thriving fish farms, offering a new livelihood to his community and supporting over 60 families. A few kilometres away, Sushma Devi works for women's rights and employment opportunities beyond the coal mines, facing bureaucratic challenges. Meanwhile, Binod Kumar provides free computers training to the youth, aiming to break the cycle of poverty for coal gatherers' families, including his student Nindiya. The narrative of ‘As For Us’ highlights the importance of grassroots efforts in developing sustainable alternatives to coal reliance in India, showcasing the potential for positive change through community-driven initiatives.
