Alma, a young black teenager recovering from Bulemia meets Noa, new roommate at an eating disorder treatment center. Seemingly, the two could not be more different, yet they will soon find they have more in common than they realize. ​ Based on a true story, Blackbird tells the narrative of hope, trauma recovery, and truth through finding connection.

It tells the inspiring personal stories of people from populations in the Black Community mostly affected by HIV, (cisgendered and transgendered women and gay men), and how their lives were impacted by HIV-related stigma. After going through a journey of self-discovery they recover their strength to move on with their lives.

This country takes hate very seriously - and there are over 900 organized hate groups to prove it. Our society is increasingly apathetic and violent. Early on, many are taught to hate the enemy, to be fearful of the other, to feel threatened by those different from them. Participating in groups with hateful beliefs and expressions provides a connection that perhaps fills the emptiness or inner pain. It is time to separate the facts from the myths about LGBTQ+.
