Radio Bingo

NAUTILUS is an artistic collaboration between the director, painter, and lyricist Ariel Neo and the musical duo Lunis. Presented as a set of two music videos ( "Nautilus" and "The tide") created to be viewed as an ensemble, NAUTILUS was inspired by Ariel's experience during lock-down. The music videos showcases some of Ariel large circular paintings and illustrates the slowing down of time and the distortion of space in a musical creation full of symbolism and metaphores. Devised in partnership with the "Conservatoire Botanique National de Brest", the oldest and one of the largest botanical conservatories in Europe, NAUTILUS highlights rare and endangered plants as well as the importance of the conservatory's mission. LUNIS is a french musical duo from Fouesnant comprised of Laurène Bourvon and Louis Mevel. The duo is regularly involved in artistic collaborations and have worked with artists such as Royale Avenue and Yall, Boulevards des Airs and many more. They first collaborated with Ariel Neo by creating music for her latest short film Firefalls. The electro-pop duo, inspired by the new American pop wave, also has a folk element that recalls Irish artists Damien Rice or Glen Hansard.

Nautilus

In the not-so-distant future of 2084, Ángel finds himself trapped as a climate migrant in an unspecified smart city, under constant surveillance. Amidst a bleak and oppressive existence, Ángel makes a living by cultivating plants, preserving the fading wisdom of seeds. Within this desolate landscape he crosses paths with Sofia, another climate migrant who works at a recycling facility. Fate intertwines their lives when a chance encounter reveals an unexpected connection: a shared language. Fueling Ángel's longing for human connection and a glimmer of hope, he reaches out to Sofia. Aware of the omnipresent digital monitoring, Ángel decides to communicate with her through the timeless medium of pen and paper, fostering an intimate, clandestine bond. As their secret correspondence unfolds, a friendship grows between Ángel and Sofia as does their desire for liberation from excessive control.

The works accepted reflect the diversity of the world's Indigenous nations and illustrate the vitality and excellence of our art and culture.Beginning in 2018 The Dreamspeakers Festival Society also produces Rubaboo - Alberta’s only Aboriginal multi-disciplinary arts festival. Rubaboo is a philosophy about what sustains us; it’s about feeding the spirit, and it’s about thriving. Rubaboo features Aboriginal theatre, music, dance, art, food, family and youth events, artist workshops, cultural workshops and visual arts. Its mandate is to encourage collaborations and to develop new artistic works and present these works in progress to a broad audience both during the festival but also through full production and touring. We’re committed to giving Aboriginal artists this forum and platform to perform their art, grow as artists, contribute their work to the community, and to bring audiences of all backgrounds together to enjoy the vast artistic expressions that exist in Aboriginal culture.The Dreamspeakers Festival Society goal remains the same for the past 25 years, which is to connect in a meaningful way, to learn how to be more impactful to the needs of artists and our greater community. The activities we propose will advance our effective strategic planning for years and puts us in a better position to honour the original vision of the Dreamspeakers founders to be a resource for Aboriginal filmmakers, storytellers, artists and community. We can create more opportunities and make a better impact on arts, culture and our collective identity. And we can do it all here based in Edmonton!
