Sahel Rose, the director of this film," Bouquet " grew up in an orphanage in Iran as a child and came to Japan with her foster mother when she was 7 years old. She has

experienced bullying and abuse in Japan and once has lived as homeless in a park with her foster mother.

She is currently active in Japan as an actor, commentator, and writer, and has now taken on the challenge of directing for the first time with her original film, "Bouquet of

Flowers". The following are her own words.

Has there ever been a film so difficult to write a synopsis for as this one before.

Has there ever been a film so difficult to use the term “acting” as this one before.

It is a film yet it is not. There exists no stories.

A documentary, a non-fiction and a drama. Say, shall I call it an experimental film that all these elements? Or shall I call it a recollection film with words and plays?

Eight young boys and girls are the main characters. None of them are actors. They may seem to be ordinary people to your eyes.

You wouldnʼt know that growing up, they have experienced something far from ordinary.

“I got kicked in the face.”

“I really assumed that we as kids were to be sacrificed for our parents.”

“I really donʼt get birthdays. See, I donʼt have one.”

Abused children tend to be more sensitive to sounds.

“My body wakes up to the sound of my momʼs footsteps at night.”

“Itʼs like, half asleep, half awake.”

“I have been threatened with a kitchen knife often.”

Tracing back their memories of their time at the orphanage, they all had their own

unforgettable moments.

“Coming to the orphanage, I came to realize that my life is for myself to live, not for anyone else.”

“Wow. Itʼs ok to live my life!”

But the harsh reality sometimes peek through their hopes.

“A baby with just a name tag being abandoned in front of the orphanage wasnʼt rare…

In this film, you will witness the "unforgettable moments" that they longed for and finally seized during their stolen time and frightened days.

It is not a mere reenactment. Each looks into one's own wounds, overcoming them, giving voice to them and expressing them with one's body.

This process itself is a living testament to their lives. This film is a journey for each of them that traces back their actual lives. It is also an irreplaceable story that connects the scattered fragments of their memories.

Every child should be blessed in this world they were born into. It is becoming an unfulfilled hope in today's Japan

A deep darkness lurking in the shadows of the seemingly glamorous country, Japan. The children who are its victims What is the ray of light that they look for?

They long to let go of hate that haunts them, to forgive and to be loved.

If adults are not happy, children cannot be happy. I wish for a world where adults can get help and children always have a smile on their faces.
