Takumi Jojima (35), a shining success in the world of commercial music, was racing through his days with an overwhelming schedule.By his side was his assistant, Koichi Himeno (25), who secretly harbored feelings of love for Jojima. Jojima, while thriving as a popular composer, was also burdened by a deep, private anguish. He was trying to compose a requiem for his former best friend and the man he had truly loved — the genius composer Kaoru Jinno. Though ten years had passed since Jinno's death, Jojima still couldn't complete the requiem. Haunted by the belief that his own mistakes had led to Jinno's death, Jojima was tormented by guilt, which became a wound too deep to heal — one that led him to seek psychiatric care. For Jojima, composing the requiem was a way of confronting Jinno himself. Though the process was painful, it was sacred.
One day, during an interview for a music magazine, Jojima meets editor-in-chief Sae Mukai (30), who had once dreamed of becoming a singer. She becomes captivated by both Jojima’s talent and his personality. Amidst all this, Masayoshi Sugawara (60), the chairman of a pharmaceutical company who had propelled Jojima to the top of the commercial music world, reveals a shocking truth.
A composer burdened by a deep darkness within, surrounded by love yet starved for it, tormented and conflicted — what kind of music (a requiem) did he finally reach? This is the story of a composer who 'suffers because he loves so deeply.
