Lake Abert is a rare hypersaline lake that nourishes more than 100,000 birds along the Pacific Flyway with its brine shrimp and alkali flies. Water diversions have left this southeastern Oregon lake dry three out of the last eight years leading to an uncertain future for the lake and the birds that depend upon it.
