The film tells the story of Davide, a thirty-year-old from Milan, and how his life changed the first time when he was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at the age of eight, and a second time, when he discovered that all he needed to communicate was a pencil.

At fourteen he created his alter-ego, a black and hairy monster called Patatone, a good hearted creature who is loved by no-one. This narrative device allowed Davide to tell himself and others how he felt, but at the same time it allowed him to discover his talent for drawing – a talent that has now resulted in the publication of four illustration books for children.
