Reflecting her own fascination with the afterlife, Academy Award®-winning actress Diane Keaton presents a wonderfully insightful and lighthearted look at the Great Beyond in her directorial debut feature HEAVEN. Interspersing a collage of candid, wide-ranging interviews with vintage footage from such classic motion pictures as Metropolis, Green Pastures and Stairway to Heaven, Keaton explores humanity’s oldest and most mysterious questions about eternity and everlasting life. The tapestry of answers she receives provides profoundly honest and often outrageous perspectives on how religion, Hollywood and popular music have influenced our view of paradise and the hereafter.
Featuring a score from acclaimed composer Howard Shore and a soundtrack with songs by Lionel Richie, The Residents, The Dream Academy, Sam Cooke and more, HEAVEN is an ethereal cinematic experience that provides viewers with the ultimate coming attraction. So pull up a cloud and take a celestial ride to HEAVEN.

“Imbued with and reflective of the qualities that made Keaton an enjoyable performer.
It is questing, capacious, stylish, ironic, giddy.”
–The New York Times
“Keaton the filmmaker, like Keaton the actress, is inquiring, endearing and ultimately wise.”
–The Washington Post

Arnie Holland, founder/CEO of Lightyear, was there (at RCA) when Diane’s manager, Arlyne Rothberg, pitched this quirky and unusual project:
“At the time we were looking for different kinds of content that the big studios were not doing, and we were offering artists a level of freedom that they don’t usually get. The deal was simple: Diane would conceive, write, conduct the interviews, and direct this with complete creative freedom. Our main job was to fund it, do all the music licensing (including the deal with the great Howard Shore), and ensure that all the clip clearances were done properly. And then to present it to the world. Because of all this creative freedom, her unique personality comes right at you from the screen even though you don’t see her face. Seeing it remastered so that it looks great on a modern screen gives me a warm feeling about our relationship with Diane. I imagine she might be in Heaven right now, laughing at how there’s so much interest in the film now.”

“It’s like a dream. It's such a surreal thing...
As far as I’m concerned I think everyone has a shot at heaven.” –Diane Keaton
