“Singing on the Edge” follows Zola, a young Mongolian traditional Urtiin duu (“long song”) singer on the cusp of international stardom. Urtiin duu has a unique place in Mongolian history and culture — dating back 800 years — but the country’s recent embrace of the market economy and globalism has put this beloved art form in jeopardy.
