Alliance Française Dublin, the French Embassy in Ireland and University College Dublin are delighted to present Les Enfants terribles (1950), as part of their film-cycle Disruptive Soundscapes, which focuses on innovative film music and sound.
Music plays an integral role in Les Enfants terribles, director Jean-Pierre Melville’s successful film adaptation of Jean Cocteau’s 1929 novel of the same name. Musicologist, Dr Laura Anderson (School of Music, UCD) traces the complexity of the interaction between Melville and Cocteau concerning music and explores how the film’s underscore music, which is entirely drawn from baroque repertoire, is central to the adaptation.
Marking the 60th anniversary of Jean Cocteau's death (1889-1963), this event celebrates his work and talent.
