Stay tuned after the film finishes for an exclusive interview with I WAS, I AM, I WILL BE director Ilker Çatak!

WEST COAST PREMIERE!

Ilker Çatak’s sophomore feature is a nuanced examination of life's unpredictability and progression from a troubled past to a complicated present and the hopeful promise of the future. Opposite worlds collide when Turkish gigolo Baran (Ogulcan Arman Uslu) meets Marion (Anne Ratte-Polle), a German pilot, on the beaches of Marmaris. In his pursuit of a better life in Europe, Baran convinces Marion to take him back to Germany, but what starts as a simple arrangement begins to develop into something deeper. “Çatak keeps the focus on a human level as the couple faces the kind of dilemmas that might have fuelled a melodrama by Douglas Sirk or Fassbinder.”- Allan Hunter, Screen International. In German, Turkish, English and French with English subtitles. Discussion following with director Ilker Çatak.
